Alive

Cover

This is a cover of a song originally released by All Sons and Daughters. I was arranging this song when I played the visual novel Echo, so I began to think of it as an antithesis to Echo's premise of horror and cruelty. Hence the desert motif in the cover art!

Cavatina e vivace: I. Cavatina

Chiptune cover

This is my game-style adaptation of the Cavatina movement of Jack Mattsson's "Cavatina e vivace". It was originally performed by Erica Nygård on flute and Niels Burgmann on organ, on Mattsson's album Momentum.I hope you'll hear the nods to games like Fire Emblem: Blazing Blade, the original Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, and The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.

A Smile in My Afternoon

Original

I wrote this song with a certain coyote named Dani in mind! Dani is a side character who appears about halfway through Kismet, by Watts Martin. Dani doesn't participate much in the action, and they might also be the character whom the protagonist most struggles to figure out. They're obviously one of my favorites though. I'll let this song show some of their personality, and give no further spoilers.Read Kismet, it's great; that advice comes from yours truly, who finishes like two books a year. ^~^

Chaos King

Sheet Music

My piano arrangement of Toby Fox's "Chaos King" from Deltarune.I've placed invisible stacatto articulations and dynamics so the MuseScore player communicates my intended performance, but I hope everyone has fun interpreting this in their own style!I'm unsure of whether the sharpened G's should be notated as G-sharps or A-flats, so I've chosen to preserve the parallel thirds as much as possible. Here's how I play it:

Kino's Journey -The Beautiful World- OST

Medley

A medley of tunes from the underscore of Kino's Journey -The Beautiful World- The Animated Series. In writing this, I got deep into the mind of the composer! I discovered that the composer wrote variations of these themes to suit the context and length of different scenes. For example, mm27-33 feature additional repetitions of the phrase used during Shizu's daily routine on the ship. The left-hand phrases in 115-122 were used on one or two occasions to spice up a repetition of the theme in longer action scenes; I transcribed these phrases as best I could. I also discovered the magic of the juxtaposed second-inversion sus2 chords in measures 88ff.I loved this anime. I mistakenly told a friend that it was a cartoon about a boy and his talking motorcycle, when in reality Kino is a girl (shame on me)! Each episode contains its own story, although the ordering seems to be intentional, like the ordering of songs on an album.Decide whether or not you like it: the episodes vary from heartwarming to puzzling to thought-provoking to (a)moralistic. Oh, and the episode with the sheep was downright ridiculous. XP

ODD FUTURE / My Hero Academia S3 Op

Sheet Music

This was a tricky song to arrange. One of my priorities was to empower the performer to use the piano's range of expression to its full extent. That is, I didn't want this arrangement to be fortissimo all the time.Homorhythmic left-hand chords helped a lot, by supporting a highly syncopated marcato melody without increasing rhythmic density. For example, homorhythmic chords in the verse allow the performer to be forceful while maintaining space and crispness. I got this solution from listening to modern jazz recordings, though I no longer remember which ones. The "Dreaming" part turned out a bit different from both the anime version and the studio recording. I think the melody I wrote matches neither recording exactly, and I wrote in more dynamic phrasing than what occurs in either recording. I hope people don't follow my dynamic markings too rigidly though. ^^' I'd love for everyone to find their own way to play it. If anyone is intimidated, my advice is to focus on supporting the melody's phrasing and power through, and you'll be just fine.
